This week Wake Up and Live has Scot Quaranda, Communications Director, of the Dogwood Alliance http://www.dogwoodalliance.org/index.php as our environmental guest. Scott will be discussing the mission of the Dogwood Alliance and discuss the Bowater land sale among other issues.

In our music section this week Tony will interview Jan Pulsford. She was in band the Thompson Twins, co produced and written with Cyndi Lauper, worked with David Schnaufer, Tony Gerber, Chico Freeman and many others. She has lived in the Nashville community, moving from England, since 1986. She is very active in the cyber studio music scene, using cameras and MIDI to create music with musicians from around the world.

And regular contributor Cecily Friday http://leftturnwithfriday.blogspot.com/ will join us once again to discuss the week in politics.

This week Eleanor Synder and Paul Taylor will join us to discuss the Katrina rebuilding efforts. Paul, who was a guest on Wake Up and Live in September, has moved back to New Orleans and will give us an update on the situation there. Eleanor, who has spent some volunteer time in Slidell working with Plenty International, will give her perspective on the rebuilding efforts. http://www.plenty.org/ and http://www.unitedpeacerelief.org/
This weeks musical interview will be with Kirby Shelstad. Kirby is a very well known artist in this community who has worked with many different types of musicians over the years. He currently has one CD on the Space for Music label and participated in the first Space for Music performances back in 1986 and 1987. One of his specialties is the electronic xylophone. This week Eric Lewis of the Cumberland Greens joins us to discuss concerns regarding legislation proposed to amend the Scenic River law.

Tony Gerber will provide live music as usual.

And Cecily Friday joins us for a discussion of President Bush's budget proposal and who wins and who losses.

This week Wake Up & Live has an interview lined up with State Representative Mike Turner (D, Old Hickory). Representative Turner will introduce legislation (HB 2485) supporting the State of Tennessee's purchase of over 100,000 acres of Cumberland Plateau forest that is being sold by Bowater Incorporated. Governor Bredesen had indicated support for the idea.

In out music segment Tony Gerber will interview Space For Music Records Ambient Recording Artist, Neal Merrick. http://merrickmusic.com Neal has produced and engineered Grammy award winning artists ranging from instrumental to alternative rock. Neal is a multi-instrumentalist who is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, USA. He is a classically trained musician, audio engineer and composer that received his training at Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1978. Neal will be in the studio to join Tony and Bongo Boy for some live music. (That is if Bongo Boy can drag his butt out of bed)

And once again Cecily Friday joins us for a discussion of President Bush's State of the Union address.
